Always Been -C
What's old is old
what's new is
now
You do not know how old
the ground you tread
how many footsteps before
left prints engraved,
what graves lie beneath your house
what dinosaur bones...?
You know this earth
as ever been
remodeled, redefined in parts
but has ever been
longer than any
can recall
older than books that
tell it all
So, tread lightly
my friend
and be aware
that what is old
is much older
than what we're aware,
but what is ancient
is ever here
and with us still
and may never depart
though we all will
for we are but part
of a greater scheme
where some may see our patina
as if in a long gone dream!
